The Craftsman

Have you ever stumbled across a hobby that started with scrap pieces of wood, some hand-me-down tools and a few good ideas? At some point, you must have felt totally fulfilled because you never stopped.

For over 25 years I find myself continuously involved, nourishing new woodworking tools and techniques, indulging more into the biology and history of different wood species and their characteristics. Traveling the back roads of Tennessee, the Carolina’s and even Key West, collecting small slabs for odd projects curing ever so slowly in the barn with intent to create something so fantastic.

We may consider ourselves to be craftsman, but far be it for me to hold such an exceptional title. Perhaps this should be decided by the beholder. There have been times when a compliment has bestowed upon us using the term “fine craftsman” and we are certainly more than inflated with the praise.

What determines when a craftsman has reached the pinnacle of his pursuit? The answer is right in front of you. To bring mind blowing creativity and skill from other areas of talent to produce something special, while learning every day from your trials and success. The unquenchable desire to take chances knowing the outcome could be unpredictable. When a craft becomes a fundamental part of who you are and not just something you do. Even than you would be too humble to call yourself a "Craftsman" but there's always tomorrow.

The Designer

Who are we if not inspired. We wear many hats and have many dreams. If she says “let’s build it” we will make it happen. A small, cozy nook to call your own. A place to gather with grandkids to teach them all you know and fill their hearts with magical memories.

Techniques of Fine Art

What does it really mean to be an artist? Where we are sufficient in one place, we are plentiful in others. A handcrafted front door deserves an artist's finish.

Born and raised in Central Europe above the town market, we were affluent in family values and surrounded by “Old World” history. Native to our normal surroundings, we thought nothing of it, in fact often unappreciated and discarded
as dirty and modest.

The natural aging process of an architectural structure gracefully transforms through the texture of cement, layers of paint, swift changes in temperature and lack of attention. This natural process has ironically created an old- world presence many desire to replicate today.

As a professional painter by trade, custom painting and fine finishes have their advantages. Faux finishes, plasters, and distressed textures simulate a long- term effect of aging therefore adding history without waiting centuries

When working with furniture, cabinetry and wood, experience and knowledge is going to be your best friend. Alder wood doors are known for their pronounced grain and rustic personality. Preparation, sanding, cleaning and staining afforded this door an excellent addition to a welcoming entry and a very happy customer.
